I do love a shelf full of homey decorating books - it looks lovely, as does your very cute and cottagy yellow cabinet. I can certainly understand about stressful work stuff. I can totally relate to the thought "what else could I do and still be able to pay the bills". I completely 100% know what you mean. Don't feel badly at all about telling us what's happening with it. Sometimes it's nice to get it off your chest and have the input and sympathy of others. I think it tends to help a bit. And if nothing else you know that you're not alone in your thoughts.

Hey Sophie! Sorry work is stressful for you right now. I am planning on returning to teaching next fall when my son starts Kindergarten. I am dreading it because so much has changed in the last 5 years, the demands now are tremendous.

Hi dear Sophie! Sorry to hear about the stressful job, but I know how it goes, good to have the paycheck! I haven't taken time to read in quite awhile, been so busy with blog reading and work, but I do love mystery and crime books too. My favorite!

Oh, and of course we are two peas in a pod about the lack of cookbooks in our kitchen! Decorating books are everywhere at my house, too, even in the kitchen! Who needs a cookbook for scrambled eggs and toast? LOL! Spending too much time cooking would leave no time for the finer things in life!

Hiya firstly am with you about pride and predjudice you cannot beat Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. My mum watched Room witha VIew i forgot it was on and she said the acting was superb. I love the glasses you really should use them. we have some lovely John Rocha ones which were a wedding present, they do get used (but with lots of nerves). have you seen there is a new adaptation of an Elizabeth GAskell novel coming soon??????????

Did you like it? I have to say I didn't realise He (Andrew Davies) was going to kill off You-know-who in the end... although DH says he realised that at the start. It was.... just so much more downkey than the film, with cheaper clothes and the score wasn't as soaring... will I watch it again? Yes, but probably with the same teeth set as I do the film Pride and Prejudice with 'All teeth and No' and Mr Wooden. Or to do a compare and contrats. OK, so it's probably nearer to the people as descrobed in the book (ages since I read it) but .... some films are just wonderful for romance and Room With a View was the first video I ever bought (like The Mission was the first one I rented)
As for cook books, when I married I couldn't cook and I taught myself from the whole of Saint Delia's oeuvre. It meant I put on two stone in a year, but it was worth it. Her complete cookery course is still my main point of advice when I have a question... How long do I cook turkey for, what's in a cake, what can I make for tea tonight... but my best new book is Apples for Jam, not a duff recipe so far, and so pretty on the shelf.

I never thought I would say this but working in school is a really stressful job! When I have to fill in for some one, at the end of the day i cannot feel my legs and have the feeling I could sleep for days LOL!

Sorry you're going through a stressful time at work, teachers have one of the toughest jobs. I hope you find a "second wind" and things start going more smoothly.

Glad to see you're back safe and sound! Looks like Italy was lovely...sorry your job is giving you such stress!!

If you like crime novels, try books by Kathy Reich, they are quite like Patricia Cornwell's but in my opinion, better!! There is a new t.v. series over here based on them...Bones..I've never watched it as I like to keep the characters as I imagined them from the book!

Hope things look up on the job front!
