Grey summer house.....
Just a few photos taken on my iphone of the summer house my OH built for my mum and dad at the end of their garden-sorry about the poor quality!
It spans the whole width of their garden, and is part slate roof-tiled and part clear glass-roofed in the middle section to catch the sunlight. It would have been too hot to sit in had the roof been made entirely of glass!
The end section to the left is a garden shed, but to make it look symmetrical the OH added stable doors to both ends of the building. Underneath the stable doors to the right is a built in desk and the top half of the stable door opens so you can look out.
He half-panelled the inside and wallpapered above with grey Laura Ashley Josette wallpaper. The french wall lights inside and outside are a paler grey-I love them! He's just recently made a built-in Irish style dresser for my mums china, painted in a contrasting white.
He got the idea for the project from the antique French doors he found in a skip, then designed the rest around them and made it all himself. He even made the matching wooden windows- pretty good for a first attempt! It's almost finished now, just a few bits to finish off and paintwork to touch up on. I love the scalloped lead flashing under the windows-in fact, I love it all-I wish I had one too! I'm suffering from summer house envy.....
