Pale & Interesting...

Today I've been tidying up and putting my new Laura Ashley duvet set on my bed. I really like all-white bedlinen at the moment, and I've liked this new bedding set for ages-it looks really French and antique-y, with its ladder stitching, embroidery and deep frill all around the edge. But it was a bit too expensive, until the 40% reduction sale! It's called Almarie
and is still available in some sizes.
It was really hard to get the detail to show up in the photos, so I lightened one to almost black and white. The last photo is the Laura Ashley website one-it looks a bit more ironed than mine!
The Pale & Interesting book lives up to its name. It's the sort of book that immediately makes me want to pare down my possessions, paint all my floorboards white and get rid of all my clutter-much like 'The White Company' catalogues do! It's very eclectic vintage/antique chic, with lots of quite empty rooms that have the odd gorgeous piece of furniture thrown in, alongside something quite industrial. The cover says it all really! Actually all of the upstairs bedrooms do now have white painted floorboards, and downstairs they are all stripped pine. So much cheaper than carpet and it looks so much nicer in my opinion! And a blessing if you have cats....

Oooh, it's gorgeous!! I've had my eye on that set for a while.

Until recently all our bedlinen was white but a couple of months ago I got a Cath Kidston set in the TKMaxx which is very floral. I couldn't have that on all the time though - it has to be a week of flowers then a week of plain white!!

*** Gr888 choices you've made here, that I KNOW you are already enjoying, & are certainly going to appreciate EVEN MORE w/ each passing day, that's for SURE!!!

I "tried" an "all-white-for everything" bed about 6 years ago, & I've been THOROUGHLY HOOKED since DAY 1... our bed sits rather high (an aesthetic must, w/ such talllll ceilings & a huuuuge 22' wall of glass in the room)... and, as you see our bed upon entering the MBR, it is SOOOO FAB on the eyes (if I DO say so myself! Grins!), & SO TEMPTING to take a running leap & jump up on that bed & just sleep!!! It is SOOOOOO WELCOMING, & even my husband truly likes it too!!!

...our walls are a yummy, soft, romantic grey (it only took a gazillion "samples" to FIND "the right" grey!), & I had the large fireplace wall done, floor to ceiling, in dry-stacked, Yavapai Ledge Stone. Delicious wood floors replaced the w/w carpeting & make such a dramatic statement, & over it a cream, specially-cut "rug" was laid down, plus BIG, soft-as-butta-creamy, suede chairs & glass-topped table w/ "driftwood" base, as well as a beauuuutiful, custom curtain fabric w/ chevron stripes (also cream on cream). 22' of the floor-to-ceiling glass window/wall shows off the pool & city lights below at night. The lots here are HUGE, & we never have to shut a curtain, blind or shutter UNLESS we "want to"... complete seclusion like this is a true luxury, in our opinions!

We still LOVED our bed, so it was painted a deep charcoal & beautiful & simple, natural linen "fitted slip-covers" made-up for coverings of the large nightstands & tailored "skirt" on the bed...

I spent ALOT... I mean, in the COUNTLESS HOURS way... coming up w/ what seems like such a simple setting, BUUUUT, I learned that THAT JOB takes MUCH MORE PLANNING, etc., than a more complicated look!!!

What's really fun, for a pillow fanatic like ME, is that I can (& definitely DO!!!!) change the entire look of the room~~~ O*F*T*E*N!~~~ just by changing THOSE & an accessory or two... BIG white ceramic "gourd" lamps flank the bed & the artwork is, well, "US"!!!(Some of the pricier oils we bought about 5 years ago, & LOVE to enjoy everyday as we awaken or go to bed, is SUCH A TREAT!. Putting "splurges" like that in one's MBR makes EVERYTHING seem so "SPECIAL", INcluding the occupants!)...

OMG, am I rambling or WHAT??? SORRY! I just got soooo excited for Y*O*U... THENNNN, I got all excited about OUR MBR, which aftger all these months, is still "SO NEW" to me/us!!!!!! (Ahhhh, decorating~~~~ only nutcases need to APPLY", & will understand! Grins!)...

ANYHOOOOOO, E*N*J*O*Y it alll, m' friend!!! The bedroom is SOOOOO important, and I believe it should be done 1ST in a home, not left for last!!!

Warmest blessings,
