Sometimes it helps to let off steam so steam away Sophie. I hope the days go by quickly and Wednesday will be over before you know it. You made me say to myself that I am blessed as I read this. I love being able to stay at home and do what I love best ~ homekeeping!

Love you Noddy egg cups. I am sure you sister will love them. Does she not look at your blog? Your mother has such a beautiful fireplace! What a mantle and that mirror is amazing.

Try to have a great Sunday and best of luck at school!

Those egg cups are the cutest things! I know exactly what you mean about buying things for people with similar taste. Several of my friends, my daughter and I all have very similar taste. I'll buy something for me and as soon as I show it to somebody, they assume I'm not keeping it and start saying how much *they* need it. Then I feel selfish for not handing it to them, especially my daughter. Here I am with a house full of stuff and she's just starting out. She ends up getting a lot I had plans for myself.

I can also relate to the work thing. Ugh. I figured out a long time ago that we could make it on my husband's salary alone. I just needed to make some spending money for me. We've done without a lot, but it was so worth it for me not to be miserable. I'm probably more miserable than most people when I'm confined to a job, though. It drives me nuts! I've been very fortunate that we could make it without my having a full time job. I just wish eBay was around when the kids were little.

Good luck Sophie, only three more days ... and that very large glass of wine will be waiting for you. Love those Noddy eggcups. I'm not sure if I would be able to part with them! Thinking of you, take care

The scrummy cats would wish you good luck too but they have been comatosed on the bed and by the radiator since the weather turned cold. They can just about muster up the energy to come down for their food.

Good luck for Wednesday! It's hard balancing the blog/life thing. I don't have a spare moment right now, apart from sneaking off to read nice blogs...:)the fireplace is simply gorgeous.

Hello Sophie
Oh I really do empathise with your plight!
My man is a headteacher and his weekends, every weekend is devoted to planning reviews, targets etc etc.. he loves his job (the children) but longs to retire.
Your Noddy eggcups are adorable.. wonderfully nostalgic..just my cup of tea.. or should I say cup of egg!
Good luck for Wednesday.

Welcome back Sophie! Even if just for today. Sorry that you're so stressed out - and because you don't normally moan - it must be bad. So vent away baby!

Try to make the most of this week and in the meantime, I'll be looking for homes for you in my neighborhood!

Love,
Julie

Those egg-cups are just great! I'm lucky as no-one (no-one I know, that is) has the same taste as me, so I get to keep all the things I like! Have been reading your blog for a while and loving it but this is my first comment, so - Hello! Good luck with your school stuff too.

Hi sophie, those egg cups are fantastic! but I think they need some little woolly hats to keep their egg heads warm. Pop over to my blog to have a look at my latest post- I don't know if you've seen the innocent smoothies with woolly hats on in sainsburys at the mo, but they would be perfect for you!

P.S. Congratulations on the mortgage, unfortuntately we only got on the housing ladder two years ago, so we have a long way to catch up!

Sophie, I know exactly what you mean about the work stresses (you've certainly heard me blow off steam about it many times). I you are not alone with your thoughts of opening a little shop. If you move over here to the States maybe we could do that together :o) I know you will do well with your next inspection - you'll have your whole blogging community cheering you on! I love the Noddy egg cups as well as your mom's beautiful living room!

OMG - Noddy - that name certainly brings back a lot of English memories - and gives one an idea as to how old I'm getting LOL!!!!

Hope all goes well for you at school Sophie - I know it's hard work but I'm sure you are appreciated and loved by your students and co-workers.

You are so sensible to pay off your mortgage faster - you will save a lot of money in the long run! As for moving to the US.........well, I was coming for 1 year and have been here 45, so what can I tell you. Of course I did marry an American so had to stay - but really no regrets, life has been good. Of course life IS what you make it, no matter where you decide to hang your hat.

Love your Mum's bathroom and fireplace - she has great taste, just like you!!

Have a great week dear.
Hugs from across the pond - Mary

I love your mums fireplace, eek & I must admit some festive fancies are creeping into our home too as I'm making them, they just keep appearing on shelves and the dresser in the dining room, it was getting a bit crazy the other day so I've banished them back to the work table for now!

I just found my way here via Heather at Pretty Petals. What a lovely blog! I am a big fan of Noddy (well, my kids are actually but I think he is very cute), and I am a big fan of egg cups! (Hubby and I run a gourmet shop, so my eyes are always peeled for sweet little kitcheny things, especially vintage ones!)

THEN I saw your profile! My brother and SIL got engaged in Amsterdam, and they too had a vintage style wedding (they had a flapper/deco wedding). =) I will be back as I LOVE your style and your blog! =)

Not that I know all that much about retail, but I think you would do well at a shop!
Handling customers and buying the merchandise and setting it up to look tempting to the customer....you could do all that!

The egg cups are so cute, Sophie! I've never seen anything like that.

I'm very proud of your for shortening your mortgage. That's a huge step and you'll be glad you did. How long is a typical mortgage in England? 30 years is very typical in the States. And I have almost 30 years left on my mortgage! I'm trying to pay it down faster, so I know exactly what you mean.

Oh Sophie...I have missed you! I am finally catching up and hey...if you need to vent, you vent!! Just keep thinking that this too will be a memory and will be over soon. You are SOPHIE and SO special!!!

Your Italy photos were gorgeous. I am so sorry it was not ALL glorious but I so envy anytime spent there! But yes...no matter how much I love to travel (and I DO!), getting back home to my humble little house is always the best.

And YOUR home is just too splendid! The photos of your bath take my breath away!
Oh my...that mirror alone is to die for!! Now I am seriously envying you SO much!!! *grin*

Your little noddys are just too delightful!!

YOU are delightful!!!

Oh, I do hope you will come to the states and open a delightful little shop! I'd visit it!

I know how you feel about the job stresses, and I applaud you for being proactive on dealing with your mortgage in order to possibly be free sooner! Hooray! We have a humongous mortgage (at least it feels that way to me!) so things are always tight, but somehow you'll get by! I too wish I could stay home and putter, and that might happen in the future, but doing something you love (like I do with decorating) makes it all that much easier to work! And earning money isn't all that bad either when you do it in conjunction with what you love. We all just do what we must! :-)

Wishing the best for you! The end of the week will be here before you know it!

xo,
Melissa

Sweet Sophie! I wish you the very best of luck. It is not Wednesday here, but it may be there, I am not sure of the time difference. Maybe you are already through and can settle down with a lovely glass of wine:)

I love the egg cups, our Public Television runs a Children's program called Noddy. It is cute, my little boy loved it when he was younger...*sigh*...good memories.

Take Care. See you soon.
