I adore your after the wedding dress!! I have a few items that I keep out just to look at them too. I really like lace as well which is funny because when I was younger my parents house was decorated with tons and tons of lace, Mom being very victorian and all. I used to tease that the house had thrown up lace, lol! Oh, and... the little bit of an armoire peeking out is just gorgeous too!! Blessings... Polly

Does this mean the black lace dress I kept all these years is back in again? I got rid of most of my clothes as we no longer go out but I did keep this one dress as I did not have the heart to get rid of it. I like the idea of hanging it on my armoire for decoration after seeing your dresses. I may do that since black is an accent color in my bedroom anyway.

Oh, Sophie, I love your dresses! I want some! I think dresses are just the most feminine romantic things to wear, and with lace it gets even better.

I hope you will take a picture of yourself modeling your new dress when it comes!

PS. Cute little Spider is looking so cozy wrapped up in the pink blanket. Not at all like that monster I saw in the frying pan! LOL!

I used to be goth many years ago and had my poor mother making various lace dresses! I kept a skirt which was amazing, deep rich purple (cadburys purple) silk with black lace over the top. I will never wear it again I'm sure but I would love to look like those fashion pics!

Your black dresses are beautiful and timeless! I love fashion that never really goes away and you can always find lace here and there. Love the look of tights with a shorter dress - very chic! There's a lot of this now in the states. Vera Wang has come out with a more affordable line with some cute frilly things..love it! Do take a photo of you when you wear your dress on Friday. I do hope that you get it on time!! Give Mr. Spider hugs from us!!!! xo, Becky and Doogs

Very pretty Sophie,
Have you seen the book 'Living with lace' by Bo Niles? It is a feast for the lace lover, mostly using it in the home though. I'm sure you would enjoy it but oops, I mustn't encourage you to spend your holiday money!!!!!
Take care,

BUT that one you bought online, oh my it is divine!!! Please could you tell me where you bought it??? Tooooooooo gorgeous!!!

those dresses look fantastic. my sister in law hangs her fav pieces of clothing around the house so she can see them at all times (although it does drive my very conventional brother insane) hope it arrives in time for the party

Take these dresses and wear them in FLORENCE!! Then if you did start to feel guilty about spending the money set aside for your trip you won't feel so bad when you wear the dresses there.

Love,
Julie

They'are all beautiful, Sophie! I'm with you, I love all things lace. When my children were little, I was really into sewing with vintage lace. Still have quite a collection of it, and plan to use it "someday!"

You will be styling in Florence if you throw those in your suitcase. Maybe you can pick up a pair of Italian shoes that would be perfect.

I love the lace as well. However, I have long passed the figure to make it appealing. I do however like the idea of using it for decoration. The pieces you have are beautiful! Jeans and lace top would be my type of outfit!

What lovely laces you have. I remember my first lace nighty, it was black with a pink underlay at the bodice...my Aunt gave it to me for my wedding night...always had the warmest feelings for her after that lol...

Oh how pretty dear Sophie! I know you look amazing in the new one! What a magic night in Florence will be had!

I bought a lace skirt last Spring and wore in in NYC and several times since. I always get compliments on it and just love the way it looks, hangs, moves...so feminine and, believe me, I need help in that department, klutz that I am!

Enjoy your day!

I love lace...but hardly ever wear it. I wonder why that is? I'll have to think on that a bit.

Thanks for your kindness to Joey and Karen. I appreciate it so much and I know they do to. You're such a nice person, Sophie, and I'm so glad we've gotten to know one another! I wouldn't trade you for anything!

Hi Sophie,
THanks for the info on the dress! I do have a few friends in London who would be able to get it. I do know Miss Selfridge, I went there a few times when I visited London in 1995. Also worked in fashion so my boss used to make many trips to Europe and the US and bring back lots of samples from there to be 'inspired' by (read: copy)!! I would love to get it but didn't realise it's woolly and we're coming up to Summer, wish they made it in cotton or polyester or rayon.... bummer!!! It's soooooo the kind of dress I would wear, so glad you are getting it. Be sure to show us when it arrives!
