No don't move, who else are we going to rely on to bring us tales from England. Stay right where you are!I love going to different people's pages and seeing all their wonderful decor and creative ideas. I wish I had more time to browse. Thanks for sharing yours.Take Care and have a great weekend.
Lovely as always Sophie,I am laid up too and waiting for test results :@( I love your ceiling roses and had no idea what they were for.I am a local history lover and I do know a lot about my house. You look as though you have a lot of period features.Aren't they wonderful.I bought the October issue of 25 Beautiful Homes, there are lots of houses in there,it's well worth a look.Jinx sends Spider a meow too !!!Hugs Kat =^..^=
Hi Sophie! Hope you're feeling better! We're sick too, just today we got caught in the rain coming home from the shops, and now have ticklish throats and are drinking nice warm tea :( Halloween sounds so much fun, in all the years we've only had one knock at the door! Get better soon :)
We have the bug going around here too, guess it travels! I can see why you need that little vacation I posted about as much as I do! I'll meet you there! :-) We can sniffle together.Your decorations look lovely. I get inspired by everyone too, but I don't always get around to doing it all myself. Have a great weekend!Melissa
A Dracula nutcracker. Well, I never. lol I'm not sure how or why I ended up with so many nutcrackers for Christmas. A couple of years ago, I started unpacking my Christmas boxes (I have over 40!!!! Eeeeck!), and I realized that I had quite a few nutcrackers of all sizes. I didn't even realize that I had been buying so many. But now that it's come to my attention, I have to decide...should I turn it into a proper collection and keep adding or should I declare myself "full" with enough nutcrackers? Decisions, decisions. lol I SO LOVE that pumpkin sitting in the wicker chair! I have to admit, I've never decorated so much for Autumn, either. Blogging has affected me the same as it's affected you! I see everyone else getting so into it and I just can't help myself!By the way, I meant to answer your question of the other day regarding the screens on our windows; yes, almost everybody has them in the states (every place I've ever been, that is, but ESPECIALLY in the south). The south may be a lovely place to live, but the bugs are unbelievable!! Bugs of every shape and size. You don't dare leave a door or window open for very long or your house will be inundated with bugs, bugs, bugs. Yick. I'd never ever air out my house in the spring or the fall if I didn't have screens. And here in Texas, where the sun is so flippin' hot (AND the front of my house faces west, which doesn't help) we have Solar screens to block the heat of the sun. It also darkens the view a little from the inside and almost completely blocks the view during the day from the outside, but having the screens on our windows during the summer helps to keep our energy costs more reasonable. See? England's looking pretty good right about now, isn't it? We may celebrate the seasons here in the States like crazy, but that's probably because our brains are baked and we're all just a little loopy! Too much heat will do that to you, you know. lol
I am sooo glad you are feeling better!!! I hope you have a great weekend!!!!
Hi Sophie...It's good to see you posting. Sorry to hear you were under the weather!!I love your hallowe'en decor. Especially like the pumpkin in the wicker chair! I also enjoyed seeing the corners of your beautiful home!Pat
Glad you're doing better, Sophie. The nutcracker is too funny!! Wish I knew how to convert British money to American so I would understand what a good deal was. Stay well.
Hi - glad you're feeling better (I think I'm on the turn, as I've been shivering non-stop all day). I've definitely noticed more since blogging. When I was pregnant with my second child we took my daughter to see the Nutcracker ballet - she was enchanted! So much so that she wanted the baby to be called Clara if it was a girl or Nutcracker if it was a boy! Thank heavens we had a girl and got to choose! Can you imagine the calls of "Nutcracket Whitehead" in the playground! Have a good weekendKimx
Hi Sophie!Believe me, there are many of us Americans who would rather be in England where the weather is cooler and the scenery more beautiful. However if you ever decide to move, living here is pretty wonderful. You will love your subscription to CL mag. Funny, I buy the English version of CL and love it.Loving the silhouette of your goolish treasures. Great shot! Mr. Drac is quite stunning as well I might add. Where is Spider? Is he lurking around checking out the scary things that have graced his home? Hi Spider!!!!Have a lovely weekend!!Becky
That nutcracker is really unique! But you know I love the pumpkin pillow!! I'm sorry you're not up and around yet... and these being your days off.. UGH. Well, let's pray real quick... Father, please heal my friend and give her health. Your word says that when we make you our dwelling, no harm will come upon us. Draw Miss Sophie to yourself and heal her. -amen- Blessings... Polly (p.s. hope you don't mind)
That fabric pumpkin is just darling!
I am so glad that you are feeling better, though from the sounds of it you're not quite well, yet. I love your mantalpiece, but is that a pentagram i espy on the left of it? Hmmm, art thou a witch, Soph? Hug that Spider and get him his sweater on, for I hear it is Aga weather there now!!!
Sophie,I think your decorations are great. No where is it written everything has to be over the top. I love the star. I just ordered Country Living too. Funny!Love,Julie
Hi Sophie,I'm glad you are feeling a little better.I love that website. I have bought a few things there myself.I love your decorations. They look great. Isn't it a fun season?Have a good weekend!Rosemary
Hi Sophie,Glad to hear your feeling better! I've been looking at the Country Living website that you gave a link for, silly me it never even dawned on me that they may deliver a subscription to the UK, I will have to go and take a look now.xFaye
Hi Sophie, I'm suffering with you, so many people seem to have colds at the moment and it's a particularly nasty one isn't it? All of my work colleagues were feeling rough today as well. I don't think we'll be doing much this weekend. Thanks for the link to Country Living, I've subscribed too! It's so much cheaper than in the UK, yet another example of rip-off Britain.
Glad you are feeling better. The fall decor looks great but I would keep my eye on that Dracula nutcracker:)Rhonda
Glad you are feeling better!!I know about the magazines! I have recently discovered some your your magazines like, Country Living, British Edition, Country Homes and Interiors, British Edition, and Period Living. I love all three! I buy them here in the states at Barnes and Noble. I emailed about a subscription and it was going to be about $80.00 USD for one of the magazines for a years subscription. So I just pick them up here when I can.Penny
The Halloween decorations look great! You haven't always been doing that? You're catching on quick!Glad you're feeling better.
Hi Sophie, so sorry you've not been feeling well! My kids are both sick, too. Just take it easy, and sit down with Country Living and a nice cup of tea. :)Love the Dracula nutcracker!xoxo,Mary

Hallo Sophie,Sorry you have been feeling unwell and hope you are feeling much better now.I love Bayberry Cove and have some Christmas pieces that I bought last year. I also have Andy and Annie (relevant eh!)which are so cute.I was wondering wheree you got your white pumpkin - I have been looking for white ones and have googled but to no end. I hope you don't mind me asking.I would also be interested in the great deal you got for the Country Living subscription????Take care Sophie and it is nice to have you back.Love Anniex
I was given a subscription a few years ago for US Country Living, and I love it. It does make me want to move to the US - the magazines aren't the only thing that are cheap. They have houses for sale in there and they are amazing. I love your Autumn decorating. I love embracing each season.Hope you are back to full fitness.Cathy X
It's all your fault Sophie!I have been back on the Bayberry Cove website and have made a little order!!!!! I can't resist once I start looking - I love Lori Mitchell's stuff.I can't wait for it to arrive now.Have a great weekendLove AnnieX
Hi Sophie,I like your fall decoration and esp your twig star on the mantle! Thanks for your kind words you left for me recently too.......Blessings,Robin
It was fun to see some of your autumnal decor. I loved your Dracula nutcracker. I too have an extremely large collection of them that I set out at Christmas. One of our favorite places to go used to be the nutcracker village in Germany. I am afraid they became an addiction. I must admist that I have never seen this one before today. Too cute. I hope you will be feeling your old self again very soon. It seems to really be going around right now. Take care and have a nice hot cup of tea. That always makes me feel better.~~ Heidi ~~
You see what a bad influence you are on me - I clicked on the USA Country Living link and subscribed! Are you on commission?? I have jusy bought the most wonderful book - I will try and take a pic of it and put it on my blog - I paid my car up last month so I went into town today (pay day yesterday) to treat myself to a book - I went to see if Katie FForde's new book was out in paperback and there it was on the counter (not the Katie F!!) but a book called "Boys and Girls" - a Ladybird Book of Childhood - it is big and thcik and full of pictures from the those Ladybird books we treasured as children - it is the most beautiful book and I know I am going to devour it tomorrow. Hmm so no housework then - I am not going to look for it on Amazon because when I see it for 3d it will take away the pleasure I got going into the bookshop and buying like I had all the money in the world. Do not ask how much it was!!! Catherine
Sophie, you're a bad influence!! I've just ordered the US Country Living, I'll just have to hide it when it arrives!Hope you're having a happy and healthy weekend.Julia x
Hi Sophie, Polly, from country blessings told me about your cat in in the frying pan, and I just had to see this. When I saw Spider sitting in the pan it made me LOL, too funny. Me thinks Spider rules!Love all your decorations, especially the pumpkin and Count Dracula.Be well....Linda
Sophie, thank you so much for stopping by yesterday to offer words of encouragement. It means so much to me:)Rhonda
I am glad to hear you are feeling better! I love all the seasons soooooo fun to decorate !!! Country living is a great magazine I do not think that you will be sorry! Florence I am very, very , jealous
Sophie, glad you are feeling better and able to decorate for Fall/Halloween.Being English, I of course crave the UK Country Living so have forked out for a subscription for several years - it's expensive but that way I'm certain to get it in the mail and not miss any issues. Sounds like you may be in Florence - such a wonderful city - when I'm visiting Devon! The world is much smaller now we're able to jet around. Have a fabulous trip.
Sophie, sorry to hear you've been feeeling bad. My whole family is just getting over the same thing. We went through so many boxes of kleenex, hope your feeling better soon, miss your fun posts :)Angie
hey sophie, I always envy people who live in a 4 season country. It is so interesting where you change your wardrobe and house deco accord to the season. I think my favourite will be autumn. I use to buy country living mag US too. They are so expensive here (after conversion). Hope u r getting better. enjoying all your pics. Take care.
I love it that Dracula has a pet beagle!! Or is that a werewolf?
Looks great Sophie - hope you're feeling better now.I so enjoy seeing other people's decorating - it's like reading a new magazine every day.I also subscribe to the US Country Living magazine as it's so cheap!

I Sophie! Ok, this is my 2nd comment for this post, but I just had to tell you thank you for your comment on my friend's shop yesterday. You liked the pic of the girl and I had to tell you that I did buy her. She is just the sweetest little girl and has the best basket of fruit. How is the amazing Spider Man? hugs, Becky

Hi Sophie, what a beautiful site that bayberro cove is! I got lost in the beauty there, thanks for sharing it!
I love your bats~ they're so cute! And the little fabric remnant pumpkin thingie! ~The way you describe feeling about shopping bayberrycove.com is how I feel when I walk into Hobby Lobby! TONS of really cute, inspiring stuff that I don't need, buuuuutttt....
I love the Dracula nutcracker, he is too cute! I've never seen a nutcracker for Halloween, good find!
Sorry to hear you've been ill...but happy to see you back again!Like you I never noticed the passing of seasons as much as when I started blogging. There is no possible way I can keep up with some, but I think every little bit helps around the house and in blog decoration too ;)(I've just done a re-do there...again...)And I have often wondered why prices of magazines and books are so much higher in other countries...I once had a paperback that had a price on it for Australians and it was beyond outrageous!Anyhow...have a great day!:)
my dear english rose, I am so glad you are feeling better, I have missed you and all the pretty pictures.Oh lookie at your halloween goodies, I wish I had some pocket money for some I love Halloween. So the story of hubby and I, well in short, I hired him through an agency when I had my high powered job as a manager of 50 men, ownly temporarly, I never even saw him face to face as he would start at 4am and I started at 6am. I got on really well with the partner he was with and my hubby loved my voice and my happiness when I would be on loud speaker on the phone, after finding out nall he could about me from all my employees one day he found my number and text me a random message, this continued for about 3 weeks and then we started talking on the phone each day, I lived over an hour from my job so I would never see him, I was living with a man at the time, but he was very violent and life was not good so the friendly chats with my hubby were such a relief, over a pierd of 8/10 weeks we spoke an immense amount he built my self confidence and made me realise I was worth a better life, so I was brave and made the step, the week after met hubby face to face, I did not like his physical apprenance & decided to be friends, but within 6 hours I realised I already had fallen in love, within a week we were living together, within 6 months we were engaged in Cuba on the beach, 3 years later married and 6 years later coming to our third anniversary.Karaxx
Sophie, honey chile, I am tagging you...you must tell us 7 things about yourself that we don't already know, then you get the fun of tagging 7 others...
Hi Sophie - I have attempted my first digi pix and added them in a bit of a jumble - my Ladybird book is there as well - its about 12ins x 10ins so quite large and lovely and thick - lots of reading
The decorations look a bit scary in your pretty conservatory~~just because it's "American" doesn't mean you have to jump on the bandwagon. . . it's a creepy holiday~save your pennies for prettier things!Michelle
I'm so glad you're better - ear aches, sore throat and all that junk is not good, yuck. Your decorations are great! I really love that Dracula guy. He is so great. I think you'll like Country Living - I know I like the British version, so hopefully you'll like the American version. I so wish we could just get together and antique and hang out, and shop, and talk, and get some tea. Kind of makes my eyes well up with tears. Sheesh, I'm silly, and it's true, tears in my eyes. Anyhoo, moving along. So glad you're having fun decorating. I too have been affected by blogging with my decorating. I think in terms of what will make a good picture, and how things look through the camera lense, or what would make a good post. So funny how that happens. alliewww.mycozyhome.typepad.com
