Oh my gawd ! I loathe spiders and dread the ' S ' month when they come in due to the rain - so not long now - I do the is there a sniper in the house bit too searching behind every door convinced an 8 legs is about to descend on me.
My commiserations.
Hi Sophie,
Happy Friday to you also!
I love that teabag, I am Dutch but I love drinking tea all day and evening (without milk!!!)
What about your hair? Give my a small picture I would not do anything with it, I know what you mena, I have alwsys had the same style , which is Long hair and many curleys, I would not know how to wear it differently...
And?
Did the kitchen work out the way you like it? Just wondering..
I hate rats and spiders and all little creeps INSIDE the house, once we had mice I killed them immidiatly,
No, give me the cows in ront of our house, and my dog inside, thats enough animals so far. Today I posted a cow "in love' haha!
:) JoAnn ,happy weekend
Hi Sophie
I would have been the same about the spider. I was on my way to bed recently and was actually about to turn the light off when this huge black bug (unknown species) flew right past my nose!
I spent the next twenty minutes tracking it down (I was alone at home at the time) and had to get rid of it before I could go to sleep.
Tom has done a great job of the kitchen at an amazing price. I look forward to seeing more photographs.

I just got your message I say keep the music - they can always turn their sound down!!!!!
I'm just waiting for them!!!
oh sophie bless you sounds like you have been really busy, I love spiders personally so not an issue but nearly everyone I know is terrified so I understand.
Oh the apple is a cutie your mummy does get fab gifts.
Cant wait to see the kitchen and talking of kitchen costs my mum's bespoke one i showed you cost her £14000.00 tell tom he should go into business.

LOVE the apple. So sweet!
I detest spiders as well. When I see one, I always tell them to "Get Out Now! Go! Run!" and if they don't? I sick Bill on them. Kill Bill! Kill! See? I do give them a fighting chance. Of course, Bill just scoops them up and takes them outside where I am always sure they plan their next
mission into my house and bathroom.
EEK!
I am just sure that your hair is lovely! You are such a true English beauty and could never look anything less than beautiful!
Have a sweet weekend! We have a picnic planned...some shopping...some gardening.
Hugs,
Sue
I had a spider incident 2 days ago. It was in my living room, sitting on the back of a couch. It was HUGE. Okay, so maybe it was about the size of an American quarter, but still - it was too darn big for me! I made my boys come downstairs and wrestle it off the furniture and out of my house! lol
You're welcome about the removal of the word verification - don't even know why I had it on there. I can't stand them on other blogs. ha I guess I've just been waiting for someone to prod me into getting rid of it.
I've got my in-laws in town so don't know when I'll get a chance to post again - probably by Sunday. I've been sneaking onto the computer to read certain blogs, though. I feel deprived if I don't hear from you guys! lol I was getting frantic until this morning when I saw your new post. Oh and love the apple doorstop! Must go now - have to get ready for today's adventures!
Oh I agree with you on the spider! I would have been awake all night!
Karla
I have 2 cats, and the 3 of us are constantly on the lookout for spiders - if they aren't too big I will evict them from the house, but if they are too big, then the cats have free rein to have a go - sounds cruel though!#
New to blogging and I saw your blog through Faye's (chic country home) - lovely site and I love the doorstop - smaller version would make a great pin cushion!

You never know if it is frogs, cats, robots, tarantulas or what over here! Never a dull moment. Careful when you bite into that apple :) I'd offer you a safe place to stay here but....welll....there are those things in the basement...
Hi Sophie,
Love that doorstop, it's so cute. I used to happily scoop spiders up and put them out until one day a very teensy spider actually bit me! Since then I am a bit more wary of them and trap them in something before letting them out of the house. I loved your music thingy so much that I installed one on my own blog too. I hope you don't mind. Enjoy your week-end.
Hugs, Sandi x
Sophie,
I didn't even know that you had those types of spiders there.
Can't wait to see your project when it is done.
Love the apple.
Your hair sounds really cute.
We are going to a free concert in the park tomorrow night.(Gin Blossoms)
The rest of the weekend, I am still helping my daughter get her new home organized.
Have a great weekend!
Rosemary
p.s. Stay away from spiders.
YIKES! And he let it go outside??? It would've been visiting the porcelain princess (toilet) if it happened to me!! Would that clog the pipes, I wonder? And, I love your apple! The worm just puts it over the top cute. Have a fun weekend. Blessings... Polly
I can't understand why anyone would want a spider as a pet,and I don't care how big we look to them Uggh !!!!
I hope you get to wear your dress to go somewhere nice.
Kat x
Yikes!!! My husband was bit a few years ago by a Brown Recluse spider and was in the hospital for a week! I am not a fan of spiders!
Love the Apple! So cute.

Hi Sophie...been having a heck of atime trying to leave a comment for you...sent Kari a message and she helped me out...but wow!!! I love the frogs...am a frog fanatic and always have been. I used to run away from home to catch frogs when I was little more than a toddler...I am so glad you like my thought provoking blogs, lol...your creativity lies in artistic design and words, mine lie only in words...anyway, I just wanted you to know how much I enjoy visiting you!
Sandi
EEEEUW! That gives me the chills just reading it! I bet your hair looks pretty! I go from long to short and back again! LOL just when I get it cut, I see someone with long hair and drool! So I am letting it grow again...Fickle girl that I am! Another blogger wrote in her blog that a Bat was in her bathroom! Those little creatures are the ugliest! Lisa :)
p.S You have a really nice Mom!
You nearly lost me on this one - when I reached the point that Tom thought it was a rat, my fingers reached for the escape button. Only a spider!!! An enormous one by the sounds of it - yeuch but nonetheless I was consoled by the fact thiat it was a spider! Now I really must go find my glasses that's the second time you've found something in LA that I've not yet noticed, Miss Honeysuckle!

Oooh spiders, rather your husband than me!
Hi - I have just joined all you bloggers out there tonight - gosh I was fingers and thumbs. I started reading through the Vintage Home ad in Period Living - not knowing there was such a thing out there - I have loved reading all your blogs - do you worry its a bit like stalking!! I just adore your house and your Pashley!! I am going to be moving this year and am aiming for a pre-war semi with lovely bays. We have lost a few whilst we wait for buyers and chains etc. We are very limited with older houses (that we can afford) here in Northallerton but I scour the internet most days so I know whats around. You have a talented Tom! I adore your kitchen. Anyway nice to talk - Catherine
Ooh Thank you - I have been sat here waiting to see if anyone answered - Wheeeeeeh you did! How do I add some of the wonderful blogs I have visited at the side like you all have? Right I am off to bed now to dream of dressing bay windows! (I am a curtain freak as I used to make them for years whilst the kids were little and did my City & Guilds in Soft Furn's) - night night
Hi Sophie,
I'm with you. I hate spiders and we get some here called wolf spiders that are pretty big. I love the apple doorstop. Really cute!
Yikes! The sight of a spider that big would have me sleeping elsewhere for the night. LOL
At the house I grew up in, we had Woodland spiders tha were hairy and as big as tarantulas. Too big to kill, you had to catch them and take them far far away.
Sounds like you've had a busy weekend. Cute doorstop!
Kimberly :)
Spiders are the one thing I can't cope with - they terrify me! We had a really large one in the house last week too - I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. If I'd been Tom I think I'd have died of fright:)
You have no idea how bad they were - I was nearly brought to the edge of violence myself - you'd have seen me on the news - still no jury in the land would have convicted me! Good luck with the quilt hunt!
Holy Hanna!!! A tarantula!! Where the heck did it come from - I didn't know they had them in England. I would have screamed my head off. Anyway, like you said, changing the subject. I must see your hair!! Please send picture post haste :o) My hair has long layers as well and it is easier to manage than when it is all one length. My hair is also curly and I sort of straighten it. When it's humid it looks like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket - scary. Hope you are still spider-free.

Wonderful work on the kitchen, Sophie, tell your hubby we think he's a hero for it!
Are you going to show photos of your new hairstyle?
My friend/coworker lives in Kentucky, where we have always had very large garden spiders, but we also have "wolf spiders" that are usually small~ at least, I've never seen one above a centimeter in size.
Her family found a gigantic wolf spider on their bathroom door! She has a photo of it, to show that it really was as big as a tarantula!
* shudder! *
Cannot bear to comment on the spider episode~~would have to go to a hotel for the night. . .I just had a chance to read some of your older posts and I just love the picture of your dresses on your wardrobe! My daughter and I have been "oooing" and "aahhhing" (she loves your little slippers!) and my other favorite is of your vintage shoes!! She said "Mommy she's just like you!!" We could exchange closets and never miss a beat!!
Best Wishes, Michelle
Ewwwww! Spiders freak me out! Infact, I was bit by one on the neck last week. Looked like I had a tooom-a! I wonder where the little beast came from. Perhaps he found a cozy spot in a box somewhere in the world and accidently made a voyage to England. Just never know. Have a great week, Sophie! Oh, that apple door stop is just adorable! xo, Becky
Beautiful blog...really enjoy looking through it. It's like my Granny's attic boxes I use to rummage through as a kid. Every where you look, you find treasure!
I hate-e-e-e- spiders! They do say the rain brings them in. But, either way, they need to stay on their own "turf" - outside!
Can't wait to see the kitchen!
Kitty
Hi Sophie,
Just wanted to let you know I posted pictures of the pastel houses in South Carolina that I told you about on my blog today with a link back to your houses. Just thought it was so interesting to see the two sets of pastel houses on either side of the ocean.
Hi Sophie
We get huge spiders in our house too! Pebble thinks they are pets and we have to put them outside in the sandpit to play.
I love that you are doing your kitchen so well, on such a budget. I think that it is much more fun to get stuck in and Do It Yourself!
Victoria x
I wonder if the spider was an escapee from somewhere. My son had a pet tarantula that lived for 12 years.
Glad you like your new haircut. That is very important!
I have yet to meet anyone whose life is as perfect as yours.
Hi Sophie,
I can totally relate to the spider problem. We get heaps of spiders here in summer and they just love coming into the house to visit us! Lots of the tiny daddy-long-legs, plus we also get the big hairy ones sometimes too! I am not scared of spiders that much, but would still not like them crawling into my bathrobe with me either!!
All the best,
Kathy :)
