Your idea to use a wardrobe as a coffee table is brilliant! Such a great idea. Taking something simple and making it seem like something else. I tried that couple times but didn't really work out to my favor. But what I did was get ideas from an episode of Bought & Sold that airs on HGTV every Sunday @ 10pm. Have you seen or heard of that show? It's an interesting show 'cause you can get so many ideas for decorating after seeing the houses that are shown on the show. If you haven't seen it yet, check out the preview: http://web.hgtv.com/webhgtv/images/pac/59889/start_at_home.html?section=boughtsold,panel=videos.
I love reading your blog. You are so nice. Your coffee table is "fab" I love it. I used to have an old trunk as a coffee table too. I gave it to my daughter, now she is using it. Glad you had a better day today. Rosemary
Bloody Ofsted are a knightmare I always remember at 2nd schhol having to be on super behaviour. What a beautiful room, and that trunk sounds amazing, would love to see an up close, I wish I had travelled in those days, its funny when my Nana moved here from british guinea she came with 15 trunks like that 2 filled with over 70 shoes, made out of silk and crystals, and the next week she was living on a farm working hard. I love those old trunks with stickers from all over...such stories they hold! I sort of wish that we still put stickers on our luggage from wherever we've been. Wouldn't that be fun?
The trunk is beautiful and looks just right in your room. I had a trunk once when I was off to France when I was at University, I remember my parents baulking at the cost of sending it over for me!! Good luck with OFSTED. Kim x
Such a lovely sitting room. Your idea to use the steamer trunk (which sounds as if it's as gorgeous on the inside as it is on the outside) is fantastic & adds to the charm and character of such a cozy looking room.
Sophie, what a pretty room that is & love the trunk. It looks right at home on those old floors. And I really love the little wicker table your hubby picked up for you. What a nice surprise!
Do you know, we left a lovely old tin trunk in the garage of a flat we used to own. How I regret that now! Gorgeous pics as usual, your house is just a dream!
I love the trunk Sophie, and we have an old trunk too that we use in our family room - they make the perfect table. Your sounds amazing, and I agree, I love the though of people traveling and using their big trunks and going by ship. I also love your living room and the furniture, and the chandelier - so lovely. And I agree with you, it is much better to think about decorating, blogging, and wonderful magazines!!

What a wonderful piece! It looks perfect where you put it, and love that you really use it. How neat it's well traveled with the stickers on it:)
